Hitchcock was incorporated in 1960, and is the “Gateway to the Golden Gulf Coast”, with easy access to retail and industrial centers, recreation, education and medical facilities. Hitchcock is located on State Highway 6 just south of Interstate 45, 20-30 minutes from Galveston or Houston, making it the hub of the Greater Gulf Coast area. Major shopping malls; hospitals, colleges and recreational facilities are only minutes away.

Life in Hitchcock

The City of Hitchcock has a well-trained police department and volunteer fire department, and encompasses 71 square miles with large areas available for future growth. Ample waterfront property is also available.

Harborwalk, is a gated, 850-acre master planned community within the city limits. This 550 plus home site development includes a marina, beach club, restaurant and boat slips, all on West Galveston Bay with easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway.

SchoolsSchools

Hitchcock Independent School District offers instruction in grades K-12 as well as a Headstart program. Also in the city limits are Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Pre-K through sixth grade, and Gulf Coast Christian School, K through twelve. Full-accredited junior and senior colleges are within five to 30 minutes from the city.

Tanger Outlet Center Mall - Tuesday, September 06, 2011
The ground breaking ceremony for the Texas City Simon Tanger Factory Outlet Center was held August 30th. Steven Tanger, president and CEO of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers and John Klein, president of Simon Premium Outlets, attended the ceremony. The facility will include 350,000 square feet in first phase of the project. It is located on 55 acres, west of Interstate 45 and south of Holland Road. Phase one will include 90 stores and is expected to be a major draw to the local area. It will be similar to the mall located in San Marcos, Texas.
The Outlet is expected to generate $8 million in yearly sales tax revenue, create 400 construction jobs, 900 full and part time retail and management positions and be as successful as the San Marcus centers.
